The winery owns a property extending over several hectares in the Pesaro-Urbino province, in an area located 30 km away from the Adriatic sea on one side and from the Marches Apennines on the other.

20 hectares of the property were mainly devoted to the production of Bianchello del Metauro Doc, Pergola Doc Rosso and Sangiovese dei Colli Pesaresi Doc wines.

In 2007, 80% of the production was awarded a Controlled Designation of Origin status (CDO or “DOC” in Italian).

In order to improve the quality of the end product, the old vineyards planted with Bianchello vines were further upgraded to a plant density of 5,000 plants per hectare. Similarly, newly planted vineyards have a plant density of more than 5,000 plants per hectare. In this way quantities are controlled for the benefit of end-product quality.

Growing methods have a low environmental impact. The applied principle is the “Optimum dose”, i.e. maximum permissible planting density to minimise impact on the surrounding environment. The winery has also has a project – to be implemented in the short term – for the conversion of a part of its production to organic farming.

Vintage is exclusively made by handpicking from mid-August to October, and is staggered, with each picking timed in accordance with the season, since each type of wine, in every vintage year, requires its own ideal degree of ripeness of the grapes from which it is produced.

Continuous research and surveys are conducted by prominent technicians on behalf of the winery. In particular, we initiated a project – under the supervision of our oenologist Giancarlo Soverchia working in association with the University of Ancona – for the reviving of “Old precious grape varieties” i.e. local endangered varieties that were about to disappear. These were carefully selected, replanted and processed into unblended wines. This is how the “Tu non sai chi sono io” (“Guess what? Do you know who I am?”) line was created which includes the wines Marche IGT Bianco Incrocio Bruni 54, Garofanata and Famoso.

The Terracruda winery makes product traceability a token of warranty, quality and reliability, with controls made in the full production chain from the vineyard to the glass.
